Can CD Fixer
repair every scratched CD & DVD disc?
Back to FAQ
These discs are single sided and are generally used for Audio and digital data. Being single sided, Compact Discs have their foil data layer very close to the top side of the disc and are therefore vulnerable to irreparable damage if scratches on the top (label side) of the disc reach the data layer beneath.
In most cases the data layer is un-harmed and Compact Discs can be restored to perfect optical clarity and high gloss shine finish.
If there is damage
to the data layer itself, there is nothing that can be done to
retrieve this data using scratch repair processes, however, all is
by no means lost, we can recover data manually from damaged data
layers using our
data recovery processes.
Double Sided Discs;
These discs are double sided and have a strong polycarbonate layer below AND above the foil data layer forming a 'sandwich' to protect the data. Due to this method of manufacture, these discs are far more robust and far less likely to suffer data layer damage from the top side of the disc.
Being that they are more robust, DVD's, video game discs and DVD recordable discs can all be repaired and restored to perfect optical clarity and high gloss shine finish.
